Aug. 7: Officer responded to a complaint of a check written from a closed account at a business at the 100 block of Highway 69. Under investigation. Officers were asked to assist Story County Deputies in Kelley at the 600 block of Giddings Street. A 44-year-old Belle Plaine man was arrested for Public Intoxication, Interference with official acts, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada.


Aug. 8: Officers responded to a burglary at the 200 block of Oak Blvd. A Huxley woman and a Ft. Dodge woman entered an apartment and attempted to take items from within and were interrupted by the tenant. The Huxley woman was identified and taken to Story County Jail in Nevada for Burglary 3rd and Theft 5th. Warrants for the arrest of the Ft. Dodge woman were filed for the same charges.


Aug. 14: Officer received a theft complaint at the 400 block of Bella Vista Court. Construction items valued at $1,000 were taken from the site.


Aug. 18: Officer responded to a domestic altercation at the 100 block of Oak Blvd. A 39-year-old Huxley man was arrested for Aggravated Domestic Assault, and Interference with Official Acts. He was transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada.


Aug. 19: Officer responded to a domestic altercation at the 500 block of E. First Street. The altercation was verbal and both parties remained separated for the night.


Aug. 21: Officer received a fraud report from Casey’s. Two suspects have been involved in ongoing fraud involving Visa cards and Lottery tickets throughout Minnesota and Iowa. Information was gathered and shared with Casey’s corporate.


Aug. 25: Officer arrested a 21-year-old Slater man after he was involved in a physical altercation at the Huxley Prairie Festival beer tent. He was charged with Disorderly Conduct and transported to the Story County Jail. Officer responded to a two-vehicle accident on Highway 69 near E. Fourth Street. A vehicle operated by a Huxley woman was struck from behind by a vehicle operated by a rural Alleman man. No injuries.


Aug. 26: Officer received a harassment complaint at the 100 block of National Drive. Contact was made with a 34-year-old Huxley man, who agreed to stop the behavior in order to avoid future police attention. Officer responded to an assault at a business on E. Fourth and Highway 69. A 33-year-old Huxley man was arrested for two Assaults and False Imprisonment. He was transported to the Story County Jail.


Aug. 30: Officer received a theft complaint at Monsanto. A trailer valued at $7,000 was taken from the property. Security footage is being examined and the case is still under investigation.


Huxley officers had seven arrests for the month — charges include Burglary, Theft, Domestic Assault, Interference with Official Acts, Disorderly Conduct, Assault and False Imprisonment. Huxley officers issued 15 citations for traffic offenses, gave 54 warnings, received 178 calls for service and had a total of 398 contacts for the month. Officers used 293.25 hours toward investigations or answering calls for service and gave 557.75 hours of general patrol.


One officer was sent to a training on active shooter scene command during the month.


Two officers also presented ALICE (active shooter) training to Monsanto staff. One officer taught ALICE to student at East Elementary this month.
