Story County Conservation and Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation will host a park dedication for the Ronald “Dick” Jordan Family Wildlife Area on Friday, Aug. 24 at 56091 265th St., Ames.
The Baldus family, longtime Story County residents and outdoor enthusiasts, worked closely with Story County Conservation and Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation to see the protection of this property come to fruition. Fundraising and restoration work is now complete, and 175 acres of oak savanna habitat along the South Skunk River will become a new nature area for Story County.
The event will run from 4-7 p.m. to allow time for the public to explore the property. A brief ceremony to thank donors and dedicate the park will take place at the entrance at 6 p.m.
