Friday night at Railroad Park in Huxley, you could hear the sounds of music in the air as part of the Huxley Public Library “End of Summer Library Party.” Making music for the enjoyment of the several hundred adults and children were the Dueling Pianos of Andy Anderson and Mike Leeds. When “Cy,” Iowa State University’s official mascot showed up, Mike Leeds shared his piano with the popular mascot.

Offering free face painting at the party in the park Friday night was “Happy Little Faces.” Children lined up to have their faces painted by Melissa Schutt (shown here painting Maddie Bultes of Huxley) and Mary Gashel. Gashel is the owner of the business.

Huxley Library Director Cathy Van Maanen gets a big hug from Cy. Van Maanen said that the Friends of the Library had a big part in planning the end of the summer party which consisted of sweets from Stallie’s Sweets, food truck food, the ISU Cheer and Pom squads and an appearance by the Dark Knight.

Huxley’s VisionBank sponsored the appearance of the Dueling Pianos of Mike and Andy for the evening park party in Huxley. Shown left to right are Kelly Bakken, Linette Hustive, Samantha Jenkins, Jenny Baker and Kate Sparks.

ISU’s mascot Cy and ISU Cheer Squad members entertained those at the Huxley Library end of summer party at Railroad Park in Huxley Friday night.

The Dark Knight (aka professional actor Matt Morgan), one of the members of the Iowa League of Heroes, entertained to the delight of children and adults Friday night. The Dark Knight is one of a group of super heroes who make a difference and put a smile on children’s faces.
