The 2018 summer reading program is here!


This year’s theme is Libraries Rock and it’s all about the music! We have programs for kids, teens and adults! The first day to sign up is Monday, June 4.


• Kids and Teens, June 11-July 19


Join us for Movie Mondays, Story Time Tuesdays, Whimsical Wednesdays (K-fifth grade), and Performer Thursdays! All programs begin at 10:30 am. We also have two teen programs (sixth-12th grade). Please stop in the library to get a calendar and all of the details! We can’t wait to rock out with everyone this summer!

Join us around the fireplace for a cup of coffee or iced tea.


Sit N Stitch: Thursdays, 6-8 p.m.


Bring your current project and join the stitching around the fireplace.


Men’s Friday Coffee: 10 a.m.-noon


Gentlemen, drop in for some coffee and conversation. Enjoy spending time and having a few laughs or interesting discussions with other men from around the area.

Open Cribbage: Thursday, June 7, 1 p.m.


Join us the first Thursday of the month. Bring a friend and let’s have some fun! Use our cribbage board or bring your own and all levels welcome.


Civilian Conservation Corps


Thursday, June 7, 6:30 p.m.


The Civilian Conservation Corps was a federal program to assist young men in supporting their families. It worked primarily on renewing natural resources. Most people know about the state park work, but in Iowa, over 75 percent of the work projects dealt with soil erosion, drought and flood prevention, and planting trees. There was soil erosion work done in the Polk City area. Linda McCann has spoken with 19 men who worked in the CCC and shares their memories. She continues to research the CCC and would love to hear from men, or families who had men, in the CCC.


Open Euchre


Tuesday, June 12, 1 p.m.


Join us the second Tuesday of the month and play the classic game Euchre. Open to all Euchre enthusiasts.


Adult Coloring - Mosaic Music


Tuesday, June 12, 6 p.m.


Join us for a RELAXING evening. Coloring pages from books designed especially for adults, as well as colored pencils, will be provided. You are also welcome to bring your own! 17 and over.


Kindness Rocks


Thursday, June 14, 6 p.m.


The Kindness Rocks Project…Polk City edition! Learn about this inspirational movement and how to be a part of it! We will paint rocks with guidance from Polk City artist, Hanna Piepel. Have fun creating something beautiful that inspires others to pass it on. Supplies provided. Pre-registration required.
