Polk City Girl Scouts were recognized on Saturday, April 14, at the annual Circle of Excellence event held by Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa. Circle of Excellence is an event that celebrates Girl Scouts earning their highest awards, graduating seniors and volunteers who were nominated by parents, girls and fellow volunteers for statewide awards in recognition of their outstanding service to Girl Scouts in their communities.
Troop 00602 from Polk City, with troop leaders Mary Luna-Duffy and Michelle Knoll, earned their Bronze Award. The Bronze Award is the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout, a Girl Scout in grades four and five, can earn. Troop 00602 earned the Bronze Award by improving Central Elementary’s outdoor spaces with a Little Free Library, Gaga Ball Pit and more!
Troop leaders Mary Luna-Duffy and Michelle Knoll also were honored at the Circle of Excellence event with the Teamwork Award. This award recognizes two or more volunteers who exemplify what it means to work together as a team. In Girl Scouts, teamwork is an important skill we like our girls to achieve and these troop leaders display that skill on a daily basis.
Congratulations to Mary and Michelle and thank you for your dedication in helping girls become women of courage, confidence and character.
