1/2: Officer cited a Cambridge resident at the 200 block of Vine for Dog at Large after several complaints of similar activity had been reported in the past.
1/10: Officer transported a male juvenile to Rosedale in Ames for a parental placement.
1/16: Officer responded to an attempted break-in at a business on the 300 block of S. Water Street. An outside lock securing a gas bottle storage cage had been tampered with. Entry was not made.
1/20: Officer responded to a car versus train accident on the Union Pacific tracks near the Heart of Iowa Trail. A vehicle owned by a Des Moines woman was on the tracks when a train struck them from behind. Vehicle is a total loss. An Ames woman and a Des Moines woman were both transported to Mercy. Charges pending after the conclusion of the investigation by the Huxley Police Department and Union Pacific.
1/24: Officer assisted the Department of Human Services with a child removal at the 100 block of River.
1/26: Officer arrested a 20-year-old Cambridge man at the 200 block of S. Vine for Disorderly Conduct. He was transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada. Officer responded to a domestic altercation at the 100 block of River. The altercation was verbal and both parties agreed that they could cohabitate for the remainder of the day with no further problems.
Huxley officers had four arrests for the month. From the car versus train accident on the 20th, arrests for Reckless Driving, Criminal Mischief and Trespass were made. Also an arrest for Disorderly Conduct was made on the 26th. Officers issued one citation for a traffic violation, gave ten warnings, received 35 calls for service or information and had a total of 86 contacts for the month. Officers used 28.25 hours toward investigations, answering calls for service or providing assistance, and gave 71.25 hours of general patrol.
