1/1: Officer transported a juvenile female from the 200 block of Oak Blvd. to Rosedale in Ames for a parental placement.


1/2: Officer responded to a car versus deer accident on Highway 69 near 310th Lane. A vehicle operated by an Ankeny woman struck a deer, causing minimal damage. Officer responded to a single vehicle accident on Interstate 35 near the 104 Mile Marker. A vehicle operated by a West Des Moines man slid off the road and into the ditch. No injuries.


1/4: Officer cited a 55-year-old Huxley woman for Violation of a School Bus Stop Arm on Oak Blvd. near Hickory. Officer received a harassment complaint at the 500 block of E. Fourth. Contact was made with a 42-year-old Huxley man, who agreed to stop the harassing behavior in order to avoid future police attention.


1/6: Officer received a complaint about a set of mailboxes that had been damaged. It was learned that a Huxley juvenile had slid into the boxes, and arrangements were made for him to fix the post the mailboxes sit on. Officer responded to a single vehicle accident on N. Fifth Avenue near Lynwood. A vehicle operated by a 30-year-old Slater man slid off the road and struck an electrical box. Minimal damage to both the box and vehicle. No injuries.


1/8: Officer responded to the 600 block of E. First for a two-vehicle accident. A vehicle operated by a Cambridge juvenile rearended a vehicle operated by another Cambridge female, causing approximately $6,000 total damage. No injuries.


1/10: Officer cited a juvenile Ballard student with Possession of a vaping product at the Ballard High School parking lot.


1/12: Officer responded to Highway 69 and Oak for a two-vehicle accident. A vehicle operated by a Huxley juvenile rearended a vehicle operated by a Huxley man, causing approximately $1,500 in damage. No injuries.


1/16: Officer received a theft report at the 700 block of Maple. A Huxley family had Amazon packages stolen after delivery.


1/18: Officer responded to a car versus deer accident at the 1200 block of E. First Street. A vehicle operated by a Cambridge woman struck a deer, causing minimal damage.


1/22: Officer received a dog bite complaint at the 800 block of Ashwood. A Fed Ex delivery employee was bitten on the thigh. Officer responded to a domestic altercation at the 100 block of Oak Blvd. A 42-year-old Huxley man was arrested for Domestic Assault and transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada.


1/25: Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 69 near Highway 210. A 23-year-old Ames man was arrested for a warrant. He was also charged with Providing False Information.


Huxley officers had two arrests for the month; one was for Domestic Assault and the other for a warrant served. Officers issued 10 citations for traffic offenses, gave 61 warnings, received 135 calls for service or information and had a total of 349 contacts for the month. Officers used 223 hours toward investigations, answering calls for service or providing assistance, and gave 386.5 hours of general patrol.
