Since 2004, families have been arriving in their pajamas and taking a unique train ride from the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad’s depot in Boone to the North Pole. For many, it has become a yearly holiday tradition.
Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, Nov. 24 through Dec. 17, families may once again make the journey from the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad’s depot to the “North Pole” (and return). En route, passengers will hear the story of Santa’s Scenic Valley Ride, sing holiday songs and take part in other fun, family activities.
Also on board, passengers will be served hot chocolate and a cookie, and get the chance to meet (and receive a special gift from) Santa himself.
Tickets for this event go on sale Nov. 1 (available now to members of the Iowa Railroad Historical Society). To purchase tickets, go to: www.bsvrr.com, or call 1-800-626-0319.
The Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad is a division of the Iowa Railroad Historical Society, a nonprofit, operating railroad museum.
