A house fire in Maxwell destroyed a garage and sent one person to the hospital over the weekend.
Maxwell assistant fire chief Shelby Patterson said the fire was called in shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday at the 400 block of Metcalf Street. The fire began in the garage and made its way into the home. Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
Patterson said the fire caused total losses to the garage, severely damaged the living room and kitchen and caused smoke damage to the other rooms in the home. The fire also destroyed an antique tractor and lawnmower.
Patterson could not provide a damage estimate.
Patterson said the two homeowners were in the building during the fire and one was sent to the hospital with injuries. The person’s condition is unknown.
