Vacation Bible school made a huge impact this year. Fjeldberg and Palestine churches partnered with Riverside Bible camp and hosted a week of awesome activities. Over 80 kids from pre-K to sixth grade participated in the week that was full of games, arts and crafts, singing, worship and more.

Each day the kids were encouraged to bring hygiene items to donate to the local food pantry. Over the course of the week, more and more items showed up and we watched the pile grow in the sanctuary. On Thursday night, there was a concert for all the kids to sing the songs they learned followed by a meal. By Thursday evening there had been over 1,000 items donated. Items included toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, laundry detergent, hand soap, tooth paste and tooth brushes, and more.

Also in the giving mood was Quick’s Hardware Hank and Thrivent Financial. Quick’s donated around 100 flowers to the kids to take home and plant as a part of the week’s theme, “Rooted in Christ.” Thrivent Financial provided the meal on Thursday night for families to enjoy after the concert, T-shirts for all paricipants, as well as $750 towards supplies, decorations and other expenses for VBS.

The week was full of generosity, love and good times. The kids enjoyed themselves so much they are already talking about coming again next year.
