Heritage Hall

The new addition to Slater’s Heritage Hall Museum opens Friday, June 30, in a celebration from 4-8 p.m. The public is invited to tour the facilities and view the new display, “The Great War, Slater and Story County in the First World War,” a collection of photos, letters, news articles and mementos from the community of 100 years ago. Refreshments will be served. The museum is located at 318 First Ave., Slater.

Slater Fourth Celebration

The Slater community will hold its annual Fourth of July celebration starting Monday, July 3, and continuing on Tuesday, July 4. The fireworks display will be Monday at 10 p.m., then 12 hours later, the big parade will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Other fun activities will include inflatables, old-fashioned carnival games, jugglers, Irish performers, craft vendors, pancake breakfast, bicycle poker run, sand volleyball tournament and much, much more.



The Collins-Maxwell FFA Chapter from Collins-Maxwell High School will be showcased this weekend, July 1-3, on “This Week In AgriBusiness,” a weekly, one-hour television agri-news program hosted by two of the country’s most well-known farm broadcasters Max Armstrong and Orion Samuelson.

The Collins-Maxwell FFA Chapter Tribute will include information about the chapter’s history, activities and community service. It also includes several photos of the students and their participation in chapter activities.

Viewers can see the Collins-Maxwell FFA Chapter Tribute during “This Week In AgriBusiness” which is aired on RFD-TV, a 24-hour television network for rural America. RFD-TV is carried on Dish Network channel 231 and on DirecTV channel 379, as well as a number of other cable systems. “This Week In AgriBusiness” airs four times on RFD-TV throughout the weekend. Broadcast times are 7 a.m. on Saturday; 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday; and 8 a.m. on Monday (Central Time Zone).
