Fourteen teams competed in the North Polk fourth-grade Battle of the Books Polk City on Friday, May 5. Teams earned points for answering questions about books they had been reading from a list over the past year. Two teams tied for first place with a score of 140 out of 160 points.

Any fourth-grade student at West or Central that was interested in Battle of the Books received the list of eight books in September. Students who had read three of the books by the end of February were placed on a team. The teams have been meeting with Mrs. Schwab during their lunchtime this spring to prepare for the competition. Current fourth-graders will be able to get the fifth grade Battle of the Books list at the end of this school year.
