After nearly seventy years, Iowa 4-H Center opens a new chapter. Owned by the Iowa 4-H Foundation, the Iowa 4-H Center will now be called Clover Woods Camp & Retreat Center. United Camps, Conferences and Retreats, a nonprofit camp management organization, will manage Clover Woods.

After leasing the camp facility to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach exclusively for the past three years, the Iowa 4-H Foundation began a new partnership with United Camps, Conferences and Retreats (UCCR) in February 2017. This partnership allows Clover Woods to remain available not only to the Iowa 4-H Program and Iowa 4-H’ers, who will be the priority users, but will also offer rental opportunities to outside groups and nonprofits throughout the year.

“We are excited to kick off the 2017 camping season by unveiling a new name for the camp,” said Doug Den Adel, president of the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board. “We believe that the name Clover Woods honors the camp’s roots and commitment to the 4-H program while opening its doors to new groups.”

Clover Woods Camp & Retreat Center sits on 1,100 scenic acres near Madrid in Boone County. Centrally located, Clover Woods can accommodate groups of 10-180 for meals and lodging. Youth and adults alike will enjoy reconnecting to nature, hiking the 22 miles of trails, exploring the woodlands, meadows, wetlands and fields and experiencing the many recreational opportunities. The Iowa 4-H Foundation provides financial resources for youth development through 4-H. The Iowa 4-H Foundation provides funds for many of the opportunities – recognition, national 4-H trips, and scholarships and special programs – that allow young people to experience the benefits of 4-H. The opportunities we help fund for young people enhance their ability to use critical thinking, leadership, communication, and social skills – tools that will give them a competitive edge in their future endeavors.
