4/1: Officer received a theft complaint that took place earlier at the high school. A student had taken a cell phone from another student the previous day. The phone was recovered and a Huxley student was referred into Juvenile Court for Theft 4th. Investigation opened on 3/24/17 for fraudulent use of credit cards had concluded with a 67-year-old Marshalltown man and a 31-year-old Marshalltown woman were arrested for Fraudulent use of credit cards.


4/5: Officer responded to a residence at the 500 block of Prairie Ridge Drive for a 21-year-old male who was out of control. The male was transported to the hospital for treatment. Officer responded to a dog bite at the 200 block of N. Third. A dog bit an Ames man while he was working on utility lines. The dog ran away and was never located. Officer responded to the high school for an out-of-control student. The officer assisted staff with the student, who was taken home by the parents. Huxley 1st responders provided patient care for two teacher’s aides.


4/6: Officer received an identity theft complaint from a Huxley resident at the 100 block of S Fourth. Several purchases were made using the resident’s credit card, totaling $818.24. Officer received a Criminal Mischief complaint from a Ballard student. The student’s vehicle was parked on Lynwood Drive during a sports practice and was found to have damage to the windshield. The damage total was approximately $100. Officer arrested a 29-year-old Huxley woman for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia at the 200 block of Oak Blvd.


4/7: Officer responded to a car versus deer accident on Highway 69 about three miles north of the city limits. A vehicle operated by a Story City man struck a deer, causing approximately $3,000 in damage. Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 69 near E. Fifth Street. The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old Ames man, was suspended from driving. He was cited and released with a court date for Driving Under Suspension.


4/8: Officer arrested a 38-year-old Madrid man for OWI at the 900 block of Highway 69. Officer stopped a vehicle on Interstate 35 that Ames PD was attempting to locate. The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old Altoona man, had two warrants for his arrest. He was taken into custody and transported to Ames PD as requested. Officers responded to a single vehicle accident on Highway 69 near E. Fifth Street. The driver of the vehicle, a 35-year-old Des Moines man, was arrested for OWI 3rd.


4/10: Officer responded to a car versus deer accident on 315th near the Interstate. A vehicle operated by a Nevada woman struck a deer, causing approximately $1,500 in damage.


4/12: Officer received a welfare check at the 100 block of Oak Blvd. A 47-year-old Huxley woman was transported to the hospital for treatment. Officer received a criminal mischief complaint at the 100 of South Main. A vehicle owned by a Huxley woman was keyed on the passenger side door while it was parked and she was at a work shift.


4/13: Officer was asked to check the welfare of a Huxley citizen at the 100 block of Oak Blvd. A 57-year-old Huxley woman was transported to a facility in Des Moines for treatment.


4/16: Officer responded to a vehicle accident at the 300 block of Centennial Drive. A vehicle backing out of a driveway struck a parked vehicle, causing approximately $2,000 in damage.


4/17: Officer cited a Huxley man for a Stop Arm Violation at the 100 block of Oak Blvd.


4/18: Officer responded to a domestic altercation at the 100 block of National Drive. A 23-year-old Huxley woman was arrested for Serious Domestic Assault. Officer responded to a car versus deer accident on Highway 69 near Campus Drive. A vehicle operated by a rural Maxwell man struck a deer, causing approximately $3,500 in damage.


4/19: Officer responded to a dog bite at the 700 block of Larson. The dog was identified and owners notified. Injuries were treated at Mary Greeley Hospital.


4/22: Officer responded to a motor vehicle accident in the Ballard High School parking lot. A vehicle operated by a 17-year-old Ballard student struck a parked vehicle while backing out of her parking spot, causing approximately $500 in damage.


4/26: Officer received a Scam/Fraud report at the 100 block of Oak Blvd. The Fraud Dept. of the victim’s cell carrier was contacted and the charges made to her phone were taken off.


4/27: Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Main Ave near N. Fifth. The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old Bondurant man, was suspended from driving. He was arrested for Driving Under Suspension. Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 210 near 560th Ave. The driver of the vehicle, a 64-year-old Slater man, was suspended from driving. He was arrested for Driving Under Suspension.


Huxley officers had twelve arrests for the month — three were for Driving Under Suspension, two for Fraud, two were for OWI, one for theft, one for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, one for Serious Domestic Assault and two warrants were served. Officers issued eighteen citations for traffic violations and gave eighty two warnings, received 173 calls for service or information and had a total of 440 contacts for the month. Officers used 280 hours toward investigations, answering calls for service or providing assistance and gave 459.25 hours of general patrol.
