• Jeffery Lloyd (above) of Alleman was nominated for an award at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul’s annual Five16 Film Festival on April 10. The festival showcased the best films made by UNWSP’s film students; Lloyd was chosen for his short film in the category of comedy, “The Secret Life of Harold Baty.”


• Buena Vista University Theatre has announced the cast of its spring production of “The Hollow” by Agatha Christie, which will take place April 26-29. Skylar Finch, a sophomore arts management major from Polk City, will be part of the cast, playing Lady Lucy Angkatell.


• Joshua Norris of Huxley was recognized at Upper Iowa University’s 2017 Honors and Awards Banquet with the Drs. Eugene E. and Mildred Everts Garbee Award.


Central College student Courtney Ubben of Maxwell recently won an endowed athletic training award. Ubben is a senior athletic training major and won the Athletic Training Rising Star Award for an outstanding senior as chosen by faculty members.


• Caroline Buelt and Bailey Youngblade, both of Polk City, were honored as high scholars (top 10 percent of their class) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s All-University Honors Convocation April 23. Buelt is a junior business major and Youngblade a junior majoring in education and human sciences.
