After 38 years of full-time teaching at the elementary school level for Collins-Maxwell Schools (and six years as a substitute teacher for the district before that), Dr. Lois Gross will retire at the end of this school year. Currently teaching fourth grade, Gross has also taught second and fifth grade. The 1969 Collins High School graduate has also, since 1992, spent most summers doing custodial work at the school. She plans to continue that custodial work this summer and also look for another job to do in retirement. “I’ve got to have something to do,” Gross said. Congratulations to her on her long-time career with the Collins-Maxwell School District. Photo by Marlys Barker
