On any given day, there is some kind of celebration going on. Recently, the children who attend Miss Hollie’s Preschool in Huxley have been learning about birds. It just so happens that one day last week was “Draw A Bird Day.” It all began in 1943 in England and is the day it is celebrated worldwide as a way to express joy in the very simplest of things in life, and as a way to help soldiers everywhere forget war and suffering, even if only for a short time. Hollie Allen, owner and teacher at Miss Hollie’s Preschool, presented a “Bird” unit, where the children learned about different birds, their nesting habits, where they migrate to, what they eat and other important facts about all types of birds. Here the class is showing the birds that they drew.
