Scott Bauer, United Way of Story County (UWSC) 2013 LIVE UNITED campaign chair, announced $1,905,388 has been raised through the annual campaign, an amount which is $55,000 over goal and $100,000 more than last year, setting a new record. Ballard also set a new campaign record, raising $102,090, an amount which is more than $2,000 over goal. The announcement was made at the Campaign Celebration on Thursday, Dec. 13.
Bauer thanked everyone for a successful campaign. "The generosity of those who work and live in Story County is evident from this announcement," said Bauer. "Special thanks to the many organizations and volunteers who made this possible. Gifts of all sizes truly do make a difference. Each person doing what they can to help others is what it means to LIVE UNITED."
UWSC donors support initiatives that meet the needs of more than 30,000 people in Story County in the areas of education, income and health.
President and CEO Jean Kresse also expressed gratitude. "Thank you for giving, advocating and volunteering so that our community can continue to LIVE UNITED."
Division volunteers brought in record numbers at many businesses, on campus, with retiree groups and community campaigns. More than 200 volunteers were actively involved with the campaign. The Ballard campaign was led by the 2013 Ballard Campaign Cabinet, which included: Andrea Ashley, Molly Astarita, Stephanie Baker (co-chair), Mike Manock, Tony Murray (co-chair), Mindi Perrine, Marge Sheldahl, Marigrace Sievers, Penny Soat and Ashley Vaughn.
John Kinley, 2013 leadership chair, was introduced as the 2014 campaign chair, along with Jonathan Wickert as the 2014 leadership chair.
