PCFD Pizza Delivery
The men and women of the Polk City Fire Department spent an evening last week, as usual focused on fire prevention and fire safety, but not in a usual way. The fire department teamed up with Papa’s Pizzeria to deliver pizzas to Polk City residents. Nearly every fire department vehicle could be seen darting around town or waiting outside Papa’s for another delivery. Firefighters not only brought a hot pizza to grateful residents, but they also checked to be sure that homeowners had smoke alarms and that they were working properly. Out of 36 deliveries, the fire department changed more than 60 batteries, and have several houses to follow up on that will receive a smoke alarm courtesy of the State Fire Marshal’s Office. PCFD would like to thank everyone that phoned in an order and they hope to do this event next year.
