Community members are invited to join Hope Ministries in reaching out to homeless and hungry men, women and children this holiday season - and all year-round - through participation in Bring Christmas to Hope.

Set for Saturday, Dec. 14, the event includes the opportunity for the public to provide much-needed items such as paper products, new socks and underwear, hygiene items and other necessities for those who are homeless in Des Moines and central Iowa. A specific list is available at www.hopeiowa.org or by calling 515-265-7272. Community members are invited to bring donations to Hope Ministries’ Bethel Mission (1310 Sixth Ave.) during the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The event also includes tours of Hope Ministries’ emergency shelter for homeless men.

"Through this family-friendly event, community members will be providing a special Christmas outreach for the homeless men, women and children we serve," said Hope Ministries President/CEO Leon Negen.
