The Collins Clippers 4-H Club kicked off National 4-H week by decorating windows in downtown Collins this past Sunday. After expressing themselves through art, they went to Trailside Park and removed some weeds in the perennial bed in the park’s SW corner. The 14 members in attendance then walked to the Christian Church, where President Nathan Wright called the meeting to order. Ben Hofer led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and Grace Girard took roll call. She then reported the minutes of the September meeting. Leader Dave Struthers went through the plans for the food we will serve at the CAPOOT Pickin ‘& Plowin’ day on Oct. 19. After this, we held the election of officers for the 2014 year. Results are as follows: Alex Fisher - president, Grace Girard - vice president, Mikayla Fisher - secretary, Jonathan Struthers - treasurer and Madeline Gerhart - photographer/reporter. Logan Berg led the 4-H pledge and we adjourned. Refreshments were provided by leader Struthers.

Birth in the family

Hailey (Hankins) McLemore gave birth to a son, Jaxon, on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 3:14 a.m.. He weighed 8 pounds. 7 ounces. and is 21.5 inches long. Hailey’s husband is Andrew McLemore; and grandparents are Dave and Elaine Struthers and great-grandparents are Don and Sharon Struthers, all of Collins. Congratulations to all the families!
