Kathy Fricke passed away Sept. 6. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.
"On the afternoon of Aug. 30, arrangements were made for several former Collins High School graduates to visit Jim Marsh. Jim and his wife, Bev, recently moved from Jewell to Ames in early August. It was a very spirited discussion of times past (baseball, basketball, football, etc.). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie, especially Jim, who had not seen many of the group for many years. He agreed to host and to provide the food (pizza) and the homemade ice cream (his mother’s recipe). In fact, he was so excited that with all the storytelling, he forgot to serve the ice cream until everyone had already gone home. Hope you enjoyed it all, Jim!!! Thank you for your hospitality. It was fun.
Originally Dick Cory, Des Moines, and Erwin Frerichs, Ankeny, were intending to visit Jim in Jewell, until we learned Jim was relocating to Ames. In the meantime, word spread about the planned meeting and the group continued to grow. Others attending were John Duesbury, Platteville, Wis.; Bill Hand, Hampton; Phil Holland, Iowa City and Larry Heintz, Rock Island, Ill. Jim and Larry are cousins that had not seen each other for many years."
Donna Hampton just returned from a Florida vacation with Joanie and Scott Reece of LaVista, Neb,; Karla Pridgeon, Buster Smith, her granddaughter Paige Pridgeon and her friend Charlie, all of Tallahassee, Fla. They spent the week at Mexico Beach, fishing, eating good seafood, exploring the area and also celebrating Karla’s birthday. A good time was had by all.
