The Collins-Maxwell National Honor Society (NHS) sponsors two blood drives during the year, and the first was Nov. 13. NHS supports blood drives because it is a way to give back to their community and it is an opportunity for students to start a lifetime of giving. Did you know that 1 in 7 people entering the hospital need blood? People are in need of blood for various reasons, such as patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplants, heart surgeries and people who have blood disorders. Every pint donated saves three lives.
Their goal this fall was 40 pints and thanks to students, staff and community - they met that goal. They collected 32 pints and eight double reds. Jacob Stratton was the lead for this project, and even Santa donated this year.
