The Collins Clippers 4-H Club held their annual Family Fun Night on Nov. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Collins school. Leader Dave Struthers called the gathering to order at 6:47 p.m., and after family introductions and blessing, the families enjoyed a pork loin and potluck supper.
After the meal, Struthers announced the club’s county fair results. Two State Fair selections, four alternate State Fair selections, seven champions, two reserve champions, 24 purples ribbons, 126 blue ribbons and 19 red ribbons. The club also received in herdsmanship - first in beef, second in swine and fourth overall at county fair. Also announced was a $50 award to the club for our 4-H Week activities that included painting local businesses windows and delivering baked goods to local supporters.
We then moved to the induction portion of the evening. The pledge of allegiance was led by outgoing President Nathan Wright. We then inducted our new officers: President Alex Fischer, Vice President Grace Girard, Secretary Mikayla Fischer, Treasurer Jonathon Struthers and Reporter/Photographer Madelyn Gerhart. The new officers then inducted eight new members: Ethan Finch, Abby Struthers, Landon Gerhart, Kenzie Wierson, Rebecca Calkins, Andrew Tschantz, Hannah Tschantz and Elizabeth Tschantz. President Alex Fischer led us in the pledge to the 4-H flag.
We wrapped up the gathering with a brief overview of the year by Leader Dave Struthers and we were dismissed.
