Eugenia Hartsook has accepted the newly created position of executive director for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Story County, effective Nov. 12. As executive director, Hartsook will provide leadership to the Story County Extension council and staff, while overseeing delivery of educational programs that align with the needs of Story County.
Hartsook previously served as the state field coordinator of the PROSPER Partnership model for the Partnerships in Prevention Science Institute at Iowa State University. She has over 20 years’ experience in developing and coordinating educational programming and community systems development. Hartsook has had significant success in developing strong partnerships and worked with community leaders across Iowa and the United States.
Prior to that she worked for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach as a family life field specialist. Hartsook is a nine-year alumni of the Iowa 4-H program.

Hartsook received a master’s degree in human development and family studies, bachelor’s degree in sociology from Drake University, and has completed course towards her doctoral degree from Iowa State University.
Hartsook lives outside of Madrid with her husband, and their five children.
