Charlie’s Angels Cystic Fibrosis Team will be sponsoring “Pushing Our Pedals for Charlie Fourth Annual Bike Ride” on Saturday, Aug. 5. The annual bike ride raises money to help fund research for a cure for cystic fibrosis (“CF”).

This event is being held to benefit Charlotte Hugunin, “Charlie” (daughter of Tim and Jenny Hugunin and granddaughter of Lynn Marr-Moore, who is a contributing writer for our newspaper), who battles cystic fibrosis. With your help, the team is working hard to raise money to help fund both research for a cure and the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, where Charlie and other CF children receive their care.

The bike ride will kick off at 8 a.m. at the Flat Tire Lounge in Madrid, with homemade cinnamon rolls, coffee and juice. Lunch will be provided by Heartland Associates, Thrivent Financial of Ames. Free-will donations for both.

The cost of the ride will be $15 per person or $25 per family. Those interested can register on line at www.pushingpedals.evenbrite.com or by contacting Lynn Moore at reedlynn@huxcomm.net. Walk-ins will also be accepted the morning of the ride.

This is an easy ride to the Tall Trestle Bridge or farther if you wish. Ride your bike or walk. This year’s ride even has a motorcycle group doing a ride in conjunction with the bike ride on their chosen route. They plan to start with the bicycles and then return in time for lunch and to take part in the silent auction. If you have a motorcycle group that would like to join in, please contact Lynn Moore to get your group signed up.

A silent auction with many wonderful items will be available. A quilt made by Deb Kahler of Des Moines from RAGBRAI T-shirts, a fishing experience donated by Lance Baker, Bass Pro Fisherman from Huxley – Baker’s Outdoor, as well as many other great items are included in the silent auction.

Tickets will also be on sale for the Complete Cyclone Experience, donated by Iowa State Football Coach Matt Campbell. Four sideline tickets and four locker room passes for the Texas game on Sept. 28 are up for grabs. Need not be present to win this. Checks should be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Iowa Chapter and mailed to Charlie’s Angels, 54258 276th Street, Kelley, IA 5013. Tickets are $10 each or three for $20. Charlie will draw four winners at her birthday party on Sept. 3.

A children’s zone will be available for kids after the ride, consisting of balloon animals, bubbles and popcorn. Come join us as we ride for a cure for Charlie. All proceeds will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – Iowa Chapter on behalf of Charlie’s Angels.

You can make a difference and we, as Charlie’s everyday angels, appreciate your support and help.

Let’s make CF stand for CURE FOUND!!!
