Paint your own pottery
On Friday, May 19, from 4-8 p.m., the Workspace at the Iowa State Memorial Union, will host a Paint Your Own Pottery: Mug Night. From traditional coffee mugs to ones shaped like owls and elephants, there will be mugs of all sizes and styles. Participants will be shown the basics of painting their pieces and those pieces will be fired within a week. Studio fee is $4 for those with ISU; $5 for the public.
Huxley Farmers’ Market starts tonight
Tonight, Thursday, May 18, from 4-7 p.m., the Huxley Farmers’ Market will open the 2017 season at Trinity United Methodist’s parking area on the corner of Highway 69 and Oak Blvd. This is the first of 11 markets to be held every other Thursday throughout the summer. Markets dates are May 18, June 1, 15 and 29; July 13, 20 and 27; and Aug. 3, 10, 17 and 26, from 4-7 p.m. In case of bad weather, the market will move inside the church. Anyone interested in being a vendor can contact Huxley Parks and Recreation department to register at www.huxleyiowa.org.
Friendship bracelet workshop
The Workspace at the ISU Memorial Union offers a cool bracelet-making opportunity. Updated and grownup, colorful boho chic bracelets are back just in time for summer. Learn two or three different weaving patterns with all your favorite colors at this workshop, which will be held Monday, May 22, from 6-9 p.m. at the Workspace. Cost is $14 for those with ISU and $24 for the public. This includes tuition and supplies.
