Help write letters


Amnesty International will meet Saturday. May 27, 1:30-3:30 p.m., in the Dale Ross Board Room, Ames Public Library. We will discuss human rights issues and write letters on behalf of individuals whose human rights have been violated. The work is appropriate for high school age and older, but younger children are welcome in the meeting room. Bring a laptop or write letters by hand. Enjoy a honey queen show


Iowa Honey Queen Carly Raye Vannoy will give a program at the Story County Extension Office, 220 H Ave., Nevada, on Wednesday, May 31, starting at 6:30 p.m. Her show, about the role of honey bees as pollinators and their environmental impact alongside native pollinators is free and open to the public.


Cut a mat


John Burright will lead a mat cutting workshop at the Workspace on the ISU campus on Wednesday, May 31 from 6-8:30 p.m. Learn to size mats, cut straight and beveled edges, and hinge-mount artwork with a handy-dandy mat cutter. Bring an art piece around 5x7 inches with you to class. Cost if $20 for those with ISU; $30 for the public.
