Hello again, everyone in this area. The big event of the Maxwell Old Settlers Picnic will be here in a few weeks. The final schedule will probably be printed by the time you read this. The dates are Aug. 1-4. The Thursday event is Kid’s Night - 6-7:30 p.m., ages 12 and under; 8-10 p.m. is the Teen Dance, ages 13 and up.
Remember the theme for this year is "Country Heroes," and all veterans are invited to take part in the parade.
More events: Fireworks are planned for Saturday night if the weather cooperates. Community worship service is on Sunday at 10 a.m., with the Methodists in charge; Legion breakfast is on Saturday; Center Stage Dance performance; truck pull on Saturday at noon; softball games and the Maxwell Jeep Show on Sunday at 1 p.m. The church food stand will open Friday at noon, and Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m., with a pork loin dinner special on Sunday.
Starting next week, I’ll print exact schedules for each day of the picnic. People tell me they appreciate that in my column in case they don’t have any other schedule handy.
That’s it for now. I need to keep movin’ on, since I have an extra-busy week coming up. Lord willin’, I’ll be talking to you again soon. Always remember, "The best day to accomplish something is the day before tomorrow."
